Let a guest help with code
Preview and explicitly grant additional access before offering control of the chat.
On this page
Promote an accepted guest
- Ask the guest to accept the conversation invitation first.
- Open Share chat and find their active, accepted invitation.
- Select Allow guest to help with code….
- Read the access preview. It lists the organisation, project, and room permissions that would be added.
- If you have authority, check I approve the additional access described above and select Grant editing access.
Do this only when the broader scope is appropriate. The guest may gain access to more than the shared transcript. The preview describes the actual scope rather than silently granting it.
Request an admin’s approval
If you cannot grant all required permissions, use Request admin approval after reviewing the scope. The request appears in the organisation admins’ Collaboration inbox. Until approved, the person keeps their existing chat-only access.
An authorised admin reviews the request and can grant or decline it. Access is checked again when the action is submitted, so a changed membership or scope can require refreshing the preview. Suspended or removed accounts are not automatically reactivated by this flow.
Offer handoff after access is granted
Editing access alone does not transfer chat control or start AI. The new editor can open the workspace from the shared chat. They must connect their own computer and configure an AI tool to execute prompts.
Use Handoff to offer the original conversation to them. They accept control after the current turn finishes, review the briefing and saved work, and decide when to send the next prompt.
